Santiago

Got to our hostel, Bellavista Hostel in Santiago and experienced, for the first time, the general public dorms. There was a bit of a mix up with our reso and didn´t have our private room. Anyhow, I was not a happy camper to be dealing with a stranger in the room and to share bathrooms with the general public. Good thing, the next day, we got our private room with private bath and it's fab! Super bright and sunny. Clean and with a great view of Cerro San Cristobal. What more can you ask for? Not a ton of sights in Santiago so we´ll be taking a side trip to Valparaiso and Vina del Mar and also to vineyards in the area. Had Chinese food again. We just can´t get away from it. I think that a taste of home has been helping. Tons of fake chinese food joints littering the downtown area. Otherwise we have been eating more meat and drinking more wine and beer. Sort of the trend of our trip. Seafood has been great. They just call it sea bass here....not Chilean Sea Bass. Go figure. Weather has been in the high 20s, can´t beat that! Santiago is a lot more expensive than Argentina as a hole. There are deals to be had but not cheaaaap like Argentina. Win some, lose some.
